The Year of Taking Chances – Lucy Diamond

As with a previously reviewed book ‘Three Amazing Things About You’ this book also has three female central characters; Gemma who’s husband has a bad accident and puts the family under strain, Caitlin returning to the village to pack up her mum’s house and Saffron who is keeping a secret. ‘The Year of Taking Chances’ is set in a quiet village and begins on New Years Eve when the three women first meet and make New Years Resolutions and then follows them through the year and the hurdles that life throws at them.

I have read a few of Lucy Diamond’s books and I have enjoyed them, this one in particular had a great ensemble of characters that made for entertaining reading and I soon became absorbed in their stories and could imagine myself being in their lives which always makes a book more enjoyable for me.

‘The Year of Taking Chances’ has a really great plot with lots happening to keep interest up and has a nice balance between emotions and humour to make it a really enjoyable read. This is a great book to read for a bit of light entertainment and especially if you want absorbing characters.
